Off Duty Kills Burglar

Lincoln Park area:

• An off-duty Chicago Police officer shot and killed a suspected burglar in the North Side Lincoln Park neighborhood late Saturday.
  
  About 11:40 p.m., an off-duty police officer saw a man trying to break into the rear entrance of a second-floor apartment in the 1900 block of North Lincoln Avenue, according to a statement from Chicago Police.
  
  He identified himself as a police officer and ordered the man to get down, the statement said.
  
  The suspect eventually came down, and the officer saw the man had his hand in his waistband, the statement said. The officer twice ordered the man to show his hands, but the man refused.
  
  Then the suspect “threatened the officer’s life” and pulled a “shiny object” out of his waistband as he ran at the officer, prompting the off-duty officer to shoot him, the statement said.
  
  The suspect was killed, and the officer was not injured, the statement said.

iPad Burglary

Gee, where have we heard this one before?

• Police are asking for the public's help finding thieves who broke into a Chicago Public School last week and stole tablets and laptops from the Dearborn Homes neighborhood school.
  
  The break-in took place sometime Thursday evening at the school in the 2700 block of South Dearborn Street, according to the police alert. It took place sometime between 8:45 p.m. Thursday and 2:35 a.m. Friday, said Police News Affairs ....
  
  Although police did not specify the school, the only school in the 2700 block of South Dearborn is part of Drake Elementary, 2710 S. Dearborn, which took over a building formerly occupied by Williams Multiplex Elementary School.

And the kicker:

• The police alert did not specify how many devices were stolen, or whether they were iPads such as those promised to third- through eighth-grade students at Chicago Public Schools taking in students required to change school buildings following the closure of more than 50 CPS schools this year.

So they were promised iPads because Rahm closed their schools? O?r is something being lost in the translation here?

Naked Man Tased

• A naked man was Tasered by police Friday night after he jumped on and shattered the window of a Mercedes on the Near West, Chicago Police said.
  
  Officers were summoned to the 1400 block of West Randolph shortly about 8 p.m., after people called 911 to complain about a naked man jumping on cars, police said.
  
  They found the 22-year-old still naked, sitting in a puddle of water, police said. The owner of a nearby 2008 Mercedes said the man had shattered the front windshield of the vehicle.
  
  The man allegedly became combative with police trying to arrest him, and officers Tasered him, police said.
  
  He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital for treatment, police said. No one else was hurt.
  
  The man may have been under the influence of narcotics, police said.

• Maybe Rahm can use some of the money generated by the cameras to replace the almost 400 ipads that were stolen from the grammer school in the Dearborn Homes on Thursday nite. Yes folks, seems this school had the new still in the box ipads securely stored IN THE AUDITORIUM! And guess who stole the ipads . . . of course the shitheads that live in Dearborns. Ipads were being sold like packs of squares in the Dearborns for a hundred bucks a pop. Now you gotta ask yourself, how many CPS schools in taxpaying neighborhoods got new ipads for their kids? What CPS administrator thought it would be a good idea to leave all the new ipads setting in the auditorium overnight? And finally, how is it that the shitheads that stole the ipads knew right where to find them. Hmmmm.

• A Chicago police officer was injured this morning after she was bitten by a dog during an armed robbery investigation that nabbed several people in the North Park neighborhood, officials said.
  
  The female officer was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital for non-life threatening injuries, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs....
  
  The officer was one of several canine unit officers who responded. She was bitten by one of the unit's dogs...
